Compost Making and Composter Bins

DIY Composter Bin

Composers come in many shapes and features.
Buying a good composter might turn out to be an expensive thing.
However, many still choose this option since they don't have the knowledge, skill or time to build one.
I personally think that if you are not worry too much about the visual aspect, it is quite easy to build a composter and you can definatly see it from my models below.
But, I do think it is better to buy one and actually make compost rather then think you will build one and delay your compost making forever.

To get familiarized with the different types of composters visit the composter catalog.

I built my first composter as the traditional two door composter from wood board remains I found.

Since then I have tested several versions of composters and came to the conclusion that the best and fastest compost is made with a simple pile. However, since I have a dog and a cat, I couldn't just create an open kitchen waste pile. It wouldn't take long till it will be all around the garden.

I built a big open box that the front side is used as a door and that's about it.

It is the best, the cheapest and fastest composter I ever used.

The most important thing about this composter is that I can easily access the compost pile and mix it with a shovel. It is important since it helps you get a homogenous ripe pile and it speeds things up. Pile Open door

If you decide to buy a composter I would recommend barrel or tumbler models presented in the composter catalog.
These composters are the easiest to mix and this is what counts when you want quick and odorless compost.
However their volume will not suffice big gardens with lots of waste.
